Abstract

The durability of early rhythm control benefit in atrial fibrillation remains uncertain. We followed 5,200 patients for a median of seven years in a prospective registry.

Early rhythm control was associated with a sustained reduction in stroke and heart-failure hospitalisation, with benefit greatest among patients treated within one year of diagnosis.
