Abstract

Chronic neuroinflammation is implicated in cognitive ageing. We tracked plasma inflammatory markers and cognition in 1,800 older adults over eight years.

Elevated baseline neuroinflammatory markers predicted accelerated cognitive decline independent of amyloid status, highlighting inflammation as a modifiable target.
