About the Journal

The Journal of Open Scholarly Publishing (JOSP) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to the practice of scholarly communication: how research is written, reviewed, published, and discovered. It is published by the OJSPlus Demonstration Press and appears continuously, with content gathered into volumes once a year.

Focus and Scope

JOSP welcomes work on every stage of the publishing lifecycle, including:

  • Author guidance, manuscript preparation, and reproducible research practices
  • Peer review models — single-anonymous, double-anonymous, and open review
  • Open access policies, licensing, and author rights
  • Journal management, editorial workflows, and publishing technology
  • Indexing, persistent identifiers (DOIs, ORCID), and discoverability

Peer Review Process

All research submissions undergo double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent reviewers. Editorials and invited tutorials are reviewed internally by the editorial team. Our typical time from submission to first decision is six to eight weeks.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. There are no article processing charges (APCs) and no fees to read.

Publication Frequency

JOSP publishes articles continuously as they complete peer review and copyediting, and compiles them into one annual volume.
