Guide for Reviewers

Peer reviewers are essential to maintaining the quality and integrity of the Journal of Open Scholarly Publishing. This guide explains what we ask of reviewers and how to write a constructive report.

Before you accept

• Accept only if the manuscript falls within your area of expertise and you can complete the review within the agreed time (normally three weeks).
• Declare any competing interests and decline if you cannot review objectively.
• Treat the manuscript as a confidential document; do not share or use its content.

Writing your report

• Begin with a brief summary of the study to confirm your understanding.
• Comment on originality, methodology, clarity, and the soundness of the conclusions.
• Distinguish essential revisions from optional suggestions, and be specific and courteous.
• Provide a clear recommendation: accept, minor revisions, major revisions, or decline.

Reviewers may sign their reports if they wish. We are grateful for the time and care our reviewers contribute.
